Can I go canyoning in Miyazaki?

Yes. In the clear streams of Hyuga and Tsuno, Miyazaki, you can join a guided shower climbing (river trekking) tour, a form of canyoning. You walk and climb up the stream through the spray. We never go where ropes or abseiling are needed, so first-timers are welcome.

How far is it from Miyazaki City?

About 1 hour by car from central Miyazaki City. The Hyuga course meets in Mimitsu, Hyuga City, and the Osuzu course at the Osuzu campsite entrance in Tsuno Town, both at 9:00.

How is it different from typical canyoning?

Typical canyoning goes down the stream and often includes abseiling on ropes. Ours is shower-climbing-style canyoning that goes up the stream. There are jumps, but we never go where ropes or abseiling are needed — so first-timers and less confident swimmers can join.

How much is it and how long does it take?

About 3 hours. ¥10,000 per person when the day has 4 or more participants in total, or ¥13,000 per person for 2–3. Prices include tax, rental of helmet, life jacket, wetsuit and shoes, and insurance.

Can I join if I can't swim?

Yes. You wear a life jacket, so you will float even if you can't swim. A guide trained in swiftwater rescue is always with you, and we only take routes checked for safety in advance.

Participants must be 13 or older, and bookings are for 2 people or more. Just bring a swimsuit and a towel — we lend all the gear.

What happens if it rains?

Unless severe weather is obvious in advance, we decide on the morning of the tour. If cancelled, we call you and there is no charge.

Before you book

¥10,000 per person when the day's total is 4+ participants (tax, full equipment rental and insurance included). ¥13,000 per person when the day's total is 2-3.
You are not charged at booking. The final charge is made after the booking deadline (2 days before the tour) based on the confirmed group size.
Minimum age: 13 years old
Bookings start from 2 people (solo participation is not available)
Your booking is confirmed once there are 2 or more participants (except when the tour is cancelled due to bad weather).
Weather cancellations are decided on the morning of the tour unless severe weather is obvious earlier. If cancelled, we will call you and you will not be charged.
Cancellation fees: 30% from 5 days before, 40% from 2 days before, 80% the day before, 100% on the day (calculated on a ¥10,000/person basis before the final charge).
